The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am Returns on July 30th!

Last year, we were thrilled to bring you the first ever Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am tournament. This was a one-day Mythic+ competition where teams made up of 2 Pro Players, 1 Influencer, and 2 Amateurs came together to speed-run dungeons to raise money for charity! With your help, we were able to raise OVER $23,000 for 5 amazing charitable organizations. The event was full of fun and shenanigans, and after it was over the one thing we kept getting asked was “when’s the next one?” Well, we are happy to say, the next one is finally here!

That’s right, we are excited to announce the 2022 Edition of the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am! Raider.IO and Team Liquid are pairing up to bring you another day of your favourite Pros and Influencers teaming up with some lucky Amateurs to raise money for charity.

Not only is the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am officially coming back, but registration for the coveted Amateur player spots is officially OPEN – so read on below to find out how to register for your chance to be a part of this amazing event!

Event Details

Date: Saturday, July 30th
Time: 9am PDT / 6pm CEST

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am will be a one-day competition, broadcast live from the Team Liquid Twitch Channel. It will be a showcase of 6 teams battling it out in a “Great Push” style format, which means that all 6 teams will play at the same time for a period of 5 hours, pushing keystones as high as possible. Teams will earn points based on the keystone levels they are able to complete in time for each dungeon in the pool, and the team with the most points at the end of the 5 hour time period is the winner!

Each team will be competing under the banner of a non-profit organization working towards initiatives that promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in gaming and the world beyond. The entirety of the $25,000 USD prize pool will be going to the represented charities, but the percentage of which will be determined by each team’s final placement in the competition!

Pro-Am Format

Last year’s Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am was the first time the Pro-Am format had been used in World of Warcraft esports. It is a format that is used often in traditional sports, especially for charity events, and we were excited to bring it to WoW! It started as an experiment but we are happy to say it was a rousing success, and we’re proud to bring it back.

Pro-Am refers to “Professional/Amateur”, and means that the participating teams are made up of a combination of Professional players and Amateurs. The Pros consist of past and present MDI competitors that have made it to official broadcast. Each team roster has 2 Pro players on it, and they’ll be bringing some incredible MDI experience to the event. To add to the fun, each team’s 3rd player is a World of Warcraft community Influencer. We’ve got some big names and great competitors lined up!

But what about the Amateurs? That’s right! Each team roster has 3 people already on it, so we need to add 2 Amateurs to each…and we’re doing that via open registration. That’s right, YOU have the opportunity to join one of these incredible teams and compete in the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am! Details on how to register and the eligibility requirements can be found below, but don’t delay, as registration closes at 11:59pm PST on Sunday, July 17th!

This is your chance to play in a Mythic+ dungeon competition on the same team as some of the most prominent players on Azeroth!

Amateur Registration - OPEN NOW!

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am will see 6 teams of 5 players each battling it out for dungeon-pushing supremacy. We’ve got 3 players on each roster already figured out, but that means we need to find an additional 12 players to round out the teams. These 12 players will be randomly selected via lottery, and you can register for a chance to be chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity today!

We have made some small adjustments to the Amateur Registration process from the last event, based on community feedback. Last year we implemented a minimum and a maximum Raider.IO Score in the eligibility requirements. This meant that only players who had at least one level-60 character above 800 Raider.IO Score, and who did not have any level-60 characters above 1700 Raider.IO Score, were eligible to register. The reasoning for this decision was to ensure that those players randomly selected for the Amateur spots were, in fact, Amateurs. The goal was to maintain the integrity and fairness of the competition, and while we still want to ensure this, we do understand many players were disappointed that their scores made them ineligible. Based on this feedback, we are adjusting the minimum and maximum scores to allow more players to register for their change to play!

Based on player data, we have determined the Amateur Window - that is, the score range where we hope to find the players with the skill and experience best suited for the Amateur role - to be Raider.IO Scores between 1000 to 2000. However, even if you are outside of the Amateur Window, you can still register as long as your characters fall within the Registration Window from 500 to 3249. If you have at least one character on your account that has achieved 500 Raider.IO Score, and no characters that have achieved 3250 or higher Raider.IO Score, you are eligible to register for the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am!

When you register to be an Amateur player for the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am, you will be given a certain number of entries into the lottery. If your Raider.IO Score falls into the “Amateur Window” as described above, you will be given the maximum number of possible entries. If your Raider.IO Score falls outside of the Amateur Window, either below or above, but still within the Registration Window, you will receive a smaller number of total entries. We want to make it possible for a larger range of players to be able to register, but are hoping with this weighted entry system, the majority of the players selected for the 12 open positions will fall into the Amateur Window, maintaining the best level playing field that we can!

How To Register

As long as you meet the eligibility requirements below, you can register to be a part of the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am, and play alongside your MDI favourites!

Registration is open until 11:59pm PDT on July 17th - don’t delay!

Raider.IO Score will be validated at the time of registration, so the number of entries you receive will be based on your Score at the time of registration. Keep this in mind if you are on the cusp of the Amateur Score Window!

You MUST be available for the full duration of the event on Saturday, July 30th to participate, so please do not register unless you are certain you can be there.

The Charities

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am is first and foremost an event aimed to raise money for some incredible causes focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives in gaming and beyond. We hope this event raises awareness for these organizations and the work they do, on top of raising funds for them to put towards their valuable work!

The prize pool, graciously donated by our amazing sponsors, will be distributed in its entirety to the represented charities. Viewers will also have the opportunity to donate to the charities directly, and we will have some fun planned for certain donation milestones during the broadcast of the competition. Last year we were able to raise over $23k through the prize pool and individual donations, and this year's goal is to raise at least $35k... let's come together as a community and make this happen!

The Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am is proud to support non-profit organizations such as AbleGamers, The Trevor Project, Girls Who Code, and Equal Justice Initiative, with the hopes of adding a couple more worthy causes to the event. Full details on the charities that will be beneficiaries of the tournament and donation links will be available closer to the event date.

Our Sponsors

An event such as the Mythic+ Charity Pro-Am could not exist were it not for the generosity and support of our amazing sponsor: gaming add-on and mod platform Overwolf. They are a prominent figure in the gaming industry, and are the developers of CurseForge -- the premiere place to download, upload, and manage all of your in-game addons. We are beyond grateful to them for helping us put on this unique and exciting competition while helping raise funds for charity!

We are also grateful to both Twitch and Blizzard for their promotional and logistical support in making this competition happen. We couldn’t do it without you!
